5K Training!

Last week we started training for our next 5k in October!

Can't believe how much better I can run! Well actually jog! I would love to be able to run the whole 5k next month and that's where we are headed!

We started out running in intervals of half mile at a time and we are currently doing intervals of  3/4 mile intervals with 1/4 mile walk at the beggining, in between and a cool down at the end! Saturday we start with 1 mile runs! We will be doing this three times and of course with 1/4 mile in between! All ours runs are a total of 3 miles.

I feel so accomplished after the run! There's a sense of pride after the run; knowing that you just ran as far as you did is a huge confidence booster! The great runner's high truly is what it feels like.

During my runs, is a complete opposite story! I feel like a turtle running through peanut butter! Sometimes it's embarrassing for me. I'm gasping for breath, wondering if I should take a shot of my inhaler, and also wondering if I should slow down. But my hubby is always pushing me to keep going and that helps a lot!

Today he wants to just keep running until we can't run anymore! Let's see how far I can go!!

My Journey So Far

My journey began almost a year ago; November 2012. I was at my all time highest weight of 268! Oh my, how did I ever let myself get that big? I've wondered that many times and I still haven't found the answer.

Maybe the answer is just being LAZY! Before this journey, I didn't even think about going for a run or even a walk for that matter! Now my husband and I are training to run our 2nd 5K! I've come a long way in a year!!

The things one can achieve by pursuing your goals are nothing short of amazing! When I first started jogging I could barely go 75 yards without stopping, but now I'm running 3/4 of a mile without stopping!!

If I push myself I can do amazing things, and so can YOU!! I've lost 52 lbs so far in my journey. I have my husband to thank for always pushing me and telling me I can do it, when I think I can't handle it or continue!

I've hit a few bumps in my journey; even hit a plateau. I was stuck on that plateau for 6 months, but I wasn't giving it my all those 6 months either. After one month of the scale not moving, I gave up for a while and didn't get back to working out until July! By the end of July, the scale was very slowly starting to move down!

I've started back up in July and have been having great success with sticking to my workout schedule. I've been doing weight lifting, 30 Day Shred, walking/running, and random cardio! I've got a workout schedule that I write down in my notebook. I do the weight lifting 3 times a week usually on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I'm starting to see a little definition in my biceps!!

We did our first 5K on August 24th with a time of 47:20!! We are training for our next 5K on October 19th! We want to be able to run the whole thing! Wish us luck!!!
